Across the world, and especially in Ghana, love is generally deemed a great thing. It's deemed so beautifully that many people go great lengths to have and feel it.

In fact, most of the articles we publish here at YEN.com.gh are inspired by people's love stories. However, love is not always a beautiful thing. It can be a very complex thing for many people. It can also be a very painful experience for some.

In short, love often fails to work for many people around the world, leaving them heartbroken. Heartbreaks and failed relationships can happen to anyone, irrespective of their social status. In Ghana, several female celebrities have had their own share of unexpected heartbreaks. YEN.com.gh, today, brings you a list of such celebrities.

1. Yvonne Nelson

Ghanaian actress, Yvonne Nelson, saw her much-publicised relationship with Nigerian singer, Iyanya, crash.

A heartbroken Yvonne blamed Iyanya for the breakup, accusing him of being a liar and serial cheat. “We dated for seven to eight months. We had something and I thought it was special like he was a wonderful guy but it was all lies. He had other girls and other things he was doing.

Aside from the actress that was in the picture, there were a lot more. That is how bad it is," Yvonne said in an interview with BellaNaija.

2. Nadia Buari

About a decade ago, star actress, Nadia Buari, was in a widely-reported celebrity relationship with Michael Essien, who then a top international football star with Chelsea Football Club in London.

The relationship, however, did not last. It is not clear what exactly happened, but reports say Nadia was heartbroken. Essien went on to marry Akosua Puni, while Nadia also moved on with her life. In a sign that Nadia was hit hard by the breakup, she has never spoken publicly about it.

3. Juliet Ibrahim

After her divorce, Ghanaian actress, Juliet Ibrahim, found love in the arms of a budding Nigerian rapper, Iceberg Slim. Her choice of a partner surprised many, especially because Yvonne Nelson's painful experience with Nigerian singer, Iyanya, was still fresh in everyone's memory.

Ghanaians, however, wished Juliet well and urged her to proceed with caution. Juliet herself joked that Ghanaian would "kill" Iceberg Slim if he broke her heart.

Well, that moment did not take long in arriving. The relationship crashed like a house of cards, amid reports that Iceberg Slim was unfaithful to the actress

4.Shatta Michy

Michelle Diamond, aka, Shatta Michy dated dancehall star, Shatta Wale, for several years but recently called it quits with him over what she called physical abuse in the relationship.

Michy accused Shatta of beating her regularly and shared photos of her face swollen face to back her claim.

Reports say Michy was heartbroken because she was there for Shatta Wale when he was a "nobody", supporting him financially and helping him build his music career.

5.Tracey Boakye

When Tracey Boakye began her career in Kumawood, she got involved with Ernest Opoku, the popular gospel musician. According to Tracey Boakye, the relationship lasted only a few months because things didn't go as planned. In an interview with ZionFelix.com, she said they faced many difficult moments in those few months.

Apparently, Tracey hoped the relationship would develop into something positive, but Ernest Opoku had other ideas.

6. Gladys Mensah Boaku (Nayas)

Ernest Opoku seems to be a very "bad" guy because he reportedly led Actress Gladys Mensah Boaku, aka Nayas, to fall in love with him, despite being a married man.

Later when Nayas informed the gospel singer that their relationship had resulted in a pregnancy, he reportedly asked her to abort - something Nayas said in interviews that she refused to do.

The two lovers later had a falling out, which culminated in Nayas whipping Ernest Opoku with canes in the studio of Accra-based Adom FM, after he had said on a live show that his relationship with Nayas was a mistake.
