Ace Ghanaian highlife artiste, Daddy Lumba has expressed his readiness to write and sing a song for the NDC flag bearer and President, John Evans Atta Mills in the 2012 election campaign.
The highlife musician, who sang an endorsement song for NPP flag bearer Nana Akufo-Addo in 2008, told Adom News that he sees nothing wrong with singing for politicians and their political parties; describing it as purely business.
He said the song he did for Nana Akufo-Addo, titled Yeko Yenim (We are moving forward), which was used by the NPP as its official campaign song for the 2008 elections, was based on the money he made and not because he is a card bearing member of the NPP.
He disclosed that Yeko Yenim was actually written by the NPP and that all he did was to just sing.
Lumba’s decision to sing for the NPP did not go down well with a section of the public who accused the star of being sympathetic to the party.
But he is not perturbed by the negative comments. He said every election, especially the campaign period, comes with opportunities for musicians to make money and he would take advantage of the upcoming general elections to make money from both the NPP and NDC.
He recalled that in 2008, the NDC also used his song Aye Huhuuhu in their campaign despite the fact that there was no official agreement on it.http://www.ameyawdebrah.com/
