The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has warned it would sanction any member who performed alongside Sean Paul at the Accra international conference center on Saturday.
This is because, if the organizers failed to the regulations guiding the payment of minimum wages to the Ghanaian musicians, who perform alongside any international artist, then the member qualifies for a punishment.
Issued in a communiqu?n Wednesday in Accra, MUSIGA, advised it's members to however, ensure that the event organizer abide by the rules and regulation of the union, before they performed they performed, else they will be sanctioned.
A couple of months before Jay-Z performance in Ghana, the union express grave concern about invitations to a number of top international artist by event organizers, without the prior knowledge of the union.
This, the Union said event organizers, commonly does to prevent payment of levy to the Union, as contained in Article 25 of the MUSIGA constitution.
It therefore asked event organizers or invited artistes, taking effect from the time the union made those claims, to always pay a levy of not less than ?5,000,000 and not more than ?10, 000, 000, any time an international artiste arrived to perform in Ghana.
