Looks can kill

Men who marry beautiful women are heading for an early grave.

A survey has shown that looks can kill - with men married to ugly women living an average of 12 years longer.

Researchers at Yale University in USA blame the early demise of men with stunning brides on stress caused by jealousy. Psychologist Edgar Dabblen revealed: "Jealousy is a highly stressful emotion. Some men with attractive wives live in a constant state of it. Everywhere they go they see other men scheming and lusting after their women."

"They believe if they slip up, there are 100 men waiting to jump in and take their places". "They believe if they slip up, there are 100 men waiting to jump in and take their places".

His researchers studied the medical histories of 3,519 married men.

They showed the men's wedding photographs to a panel of male students and asked them to rate the wives' looks from one to 20. Gorgeous girls, who ranked 14 or higher, were widowed at an alarmingly early age. But the plain women's husbands lived well into their eighties and nineties.

Men with beautiful wives were also more likely to help out around the house, doing 80 per cent more home repairs and even housework.

But Dr. Dabblen warned men against looking for ugly girls to marry.

"We have to marry for love, not so that we can live longer," he said.
