As part of activities marking this year’s Easter celebrations, movie producer Luckie Lawson and the crew of her new TV series Haunted, have donated items to some orphanages in the Greater Accra Region.

The actress and CEO of 7th Art Productions, together with members of her new production, joined Class Media Group (Class 91.3FM, Accra100.5FM, Kumasi104.5FM Adehye FM, Number 1 FM and CTV) to embark on the maiden edition of the Celebrity Orphanage Easter Funfair.

Ms Lawson told ClassFMOnline: “We are happy to put smiles on the faces of the deprived and feel honoured to be part of the project.”

She explained that she loved kids and felt very sad when children were not able to enjoy the care of their parents.

“I have my own charity and hope to build an orphanage in the future, so I am always keen on helping kids and will always jump on board even if I am asleep, so far as it has to do with kids,” the winner of the maiden edition of the Spirited Actor reality show, which was partly organised in the USA, added.

The orphanages that benefitted from the donation are the Teshie Orphanage, Potters’ Village, Chosen Home, Osu Children’s Home, Save Them Young, and Christ Faith.

The items included clothes, bags of rice, assorted drinks, biscuits, toiletries, toys, candies, and cooking oil.

Crew of the Haunted TV Series include Roselyn Ngissah, Akosua Agyekum, Majid Michel, Elikem Kumordzi, among others.

The charity event formed part of the Celebrity Orphanage Easter Funfair event, conceived by the management of Class Media Group (CMG), which took place on Monday April 17 at the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park.

Speaking during the event, General Manager for CMG, Nana Apeanti, explained that the company was not in existence only to make profit but to also give out to society, hence the gesture.

In addition to such events, he indicated that it has been the mission of the company to ensure that the general public is educated as a way of empowering people to make the country and the entire world a better place to live. For this reason, all the outlets under the group have made it a point to develop content geared towards educating the public.

“We are providing education to the people on radio to empower them to effect change in the communities they find themselves. Every content we generate is geared towards ensuring that people are educated,” he said.

He further indicated that since the inception of the company, the management has embarked on several gestures as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

He said an amount of GHS50,000 was donated to single mothers to assist them in educating their children and also to serve as seed capital to start a business.

“CMG gave out GHS50,000 to single mothers to enable them support their children’s education. This was also used as seed capital with which many started some small businesses with to enable them make ends meet. Class FM visited big and small hospitals on Mothers’ Day to support our mothers in the hospitals. We have come not only to make profit but to ensure we contribute to make Ghana and the world a better place for us to live,” he said.
