Kusi Appiah is a Legal practitioner
Legal practitioner Kusi Appiah has cautioned the public against attacking the judge and lawyers involved in the recent case between the late Daddy Lumba’s wife and her rival, Odo Broni.
Speaking on United Showbiz on December 7, 2025, he urged critics to first acquaint themselves with the court’s full decision before passing judgment.
According to him, many of the accusations being circulated, especially claims that the judge rushed the case or accepted bribes are unfounded and stem from a lack of understanding of how trials work.
“I will urge that those blaming the lawyers should be patient. I’m also a lawyer and I know how it is. You can get a case, try all you could to win the case but it wouldn’t go as you wanted. With trials, it’s all about strategy. That doesn’t mean the lawyer didn’t try his best,” he said.
He stressed that it is unfair to attack legal professionals without reading the judgment.
“Those saying the judge took bribe and didn’t take time to judge the case well shouldn’t say that. You can’t attack the lawyers and the judge if you haven’t read the judgment,” he shared.

Kusi Appiah explained that the legal team and the presiding judge worked efficiently, completing a case that typically spans several years in record time.
“They really did a great job because I normally handle these kind of cases. It usually takes about four to five years before wrapping up. The judge and lawyers put in hard work and a lot of effort to bring the judgment in one month,” he stated.
He further clarified a key legal issue regarding Akosua Serwaa’s claim that her marriage to Daddy Lumba was a civil marriage conducted in Germany.
“Akosua Serwaa said that her marriage with Daddy Lumba was a civil marriage in Germany. The laws says, if you got married in another country, you are supposed to let the court know how marriage in the country works,” he noted.
According to Lawyer Kusi, a Ghanaian judge is not expected to know German marriage law unless it is properly presented in court. If foreign law is not proven, the judge must apply Ghanaian law.
“The judge attended school in Ghana, not Germany so he may not know how German law concerning marriage is. You’re supposed to prove the foreign law that explains how marriage in Germany is but if you’re not able to prove it, the judge would be forced to give judgment based on the laws in Ghana,” he added.
