Controversies surrounding the death of Ghanaian music icon Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, continue to intensify as new details have emerged following Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu’s visit to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Recently on December 8, 2025, the Abusuapanyin, together with some immediate family members, presented drinks to formally announce the final funeral date to the Asantehene.

After the meeting, he publicly disclosed in a viral video that although they did not get the opportunity to meet the Asantehene himself, the chiefs present gave him approval to proceed with the burial on December 13, 2025.

“We purposely went to invite Otumfuo to the burial, but he couldn’t come down. However, the elders and chiefs told me to go ahead and organise the funeral,” he said.

However, following Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu’s claims, contradictory details have surfaced.

Reports indicate that the Asantehene’s Okyeame, Baffour Kantankrankyi, rejected the drinks presented by the family head.

In a video less than one minute long, which has been circulating widely online, Okyeame Baffour Kantankrankyi was seen “shouting” at a young man dressed in all-black, instructing him to return the drinks.

The young man was afterwards seen returning the drinks, packed in a blue bag.

The development has sparked widespread reactions online, with netizens expressing disappointment in the Abusuapanyin for insisting that no one can stop him from organising Daddy Lumba’s funeral, while failing to disclose what exactly transpired at the Manhyia Palace.

Others are also calling on the family to end the controversies and fix a date that will favour both parties.
