Lynching of Mahama: God gave us eyes but hate has blinded us – KKD

Kwasi Kyei Darkwa (KKD), Showbiz icon and TV/ radio personality in a post on his photo sharing page, Instagram, has written a poetic piece for the fallen soldier, whose demise has shaken the entire nation.

The despicable act has received widespread condemnation from Ghanaians, with many pouring in their tributes to the late Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama.

“Only in an uncouth society that thrives on ignorance, rumours and hate do people in the 21st Century gather to stone, burn and kill one of their own”, KKD wrote.

He explained how hate compounded by ignorance and an all-encompassing poverty of mind and spirit has led the worst people in this weak, lawless society of ours to banish common sense, usurp authority and subvert all things civil.

“REST IN PEACE, Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama

May there be JUSTICE.

A son snatched from his mother

A father torn apart from his children

A husband cut away from his wife

By who and for what purpose?

God gave us eyes but hate has blinded us

God gave us ears but folly has deafened us

God gave us mouths but partisanship has silenced us

Only in an uncouth society that thrives on ignorance, rumours and hate do people in the 21st Century gather to stone, burn and kill one of their own.

The seething hate compounded by ignorance and an all-encompassing poverty of mind and spirit has led the worst people in this weak, lawless society of ours to banish common sense, usurp authority and subvert all things civil.

We speak lies belligerently and act unwise and aggressively with no knowledge nor understanding of what we so passionately say or do.

Our yokel and malicious nature, thoughtless words and actions, ignorance and folly have brought us here.

And was it those without sin who cast the first stone?

And was it a woman whom God the creator gifted a womb to bear sons and daughters who lit the fire to burn another woman's son?

We bow our heads in collective shame for every one amongst us who says an unkind word about another without first ascertaining that it is the truth.

How one careless whisper turns malicious rumour then incites indolent fools into frenzied, blood-thirsty murderers.

This is how Mother Ghana has killed her own son

This is how a brother's keeper has murdered his brother.

The lawless, partisan, hateful people we have become

The liars and haters who lure and incite the dumb and dumber to malign another and commit murder can now be seen clearly as the killers they too like the stoners and burners are

Who are we? Who are you?

How and why did we get here?
