The Twifo-Heman-Lower Denkyira District Assembly has instituted a scholarship Scheme for students who perform well in the BECE.

Under the scheme, students who secure aggregate eight and ten respectively would qualify for assistance. Mr Samuel Agyeibi-Kessie, District Chief Executive, announced this during the presentation of two sets of musical instruments worth GHC 4,280 cedis to the Twifo Mfuom and Jukwa Watreso communities at separate ceremonies at Mfuom and Watreso on Sunday.

He appealed to parents to take advantage of the Government’s school feeding programme and send their children to school. The Reverend Ben Donkor, Member of Parliament for Heman-Lower Denkyira, who presented the items, said the instruments were purchased through the MP’s common fund.

Rev Donkor said the presentation of the instruments was in fulfillment of a promise he made to the communities some time ago. He advised them to take good care of the instruments and use it for commercial purposes to generate revenue for the communities. He said the instruments would also help to revive brass band music, which is dying in the two communities. Nana Entwi Bosiako III, Chief of Watreso and Nana Kwesi Womo II, Chief of Mfuom received the instruments on behalf their communities. They expressed gratitude to Mr Ben Donkor for the gesture and pledged their unflinching support for him and the Government.
