MTN Sun City Fest 2014 Celebration ends in Sunyani

MTN, Ghana, has successfully ended its month-long regional festival celebrations, dubbed Suncity Fest, in the Brong Ahafo Region.

The activities for this year’s Suncity Fest started on Monday, September 1st with an on Air Radio launch which was followed by a retailer’s forum and merchandising blitz, where MTN took the opportunity to brand the regional capital with MTN paraphernalia. There was replacement of trade elements such as umbrellas and tables for vendors across the region. To give subscribers experiential knowledge of MTN’s products and services and to bring our customer service to the door step of MTN’s customers, data ambassadors embarked on activation drive around commercial areas in and around Sunyani and other towns during Suncity Fest.

In an interview after the end of Suncity Fest, the Chief Marketing Officer of MTN, Mr. Rhaul De said, “the month of September was dedicated to celebrating the people of Brong Ahafo because we value our relationship with them as key stakeholders.”

He said, “MTN has seen yet another successful celebration of a third Suncity Fest Celebration and we are happy to say that this year’s celebration has experienced greater achievements. We appreciate the interest and high patronage of all the events oganised during the celebrations. We look forward to celebrating our stakeholders in other regions before the end of this year.”

As part of the celebration, MTN Ghana Foundation commissioned two new projects in the region. These are the Dinkra CHPS Compound and a three classroom block, store and office for Adamsu Presby Senior High School. The projects, which are expected to benefit thousands of children and adults, were received with excitement and great commendations for MTN.

The Commercial Senior Manager of MTN for the Northern Business District, Mr. Samuel Sarpong and other Officials also addressed a section of the customers at Victoria Park in a community Forum. During the engagement he indicated that the forum was essential because it enabled MTN to bond with it consumers and also help provide a better understanding of the customer needs which will aid them to serve their customers better.

There were football gala organised for over Forty Teams in Techiman, Berekum and Sunayni respectively. The winning teams from each town went home with a trophy, cash prize and MTN Souvenirs. A health walk and screening exercise was also organized in conjunction with some Keep Fit Clubs. The walk which took place on some of the principal streets of Sunyani amidst music and dancing was led by Okyeame Kwame, one of MTN’s Music Icons. The activity ended with aerobics and Hepatitis B screening at the Coronation park. The screening gave the opportunity to some 500 participants to check their Hepatitis B status while 300 people vaccinated themselves against Hepatitis B.

To climax the month long activities, MTN made a donation to the Sunyani Traditional Council in support of their activities.

In his concluding remarks the General Manager James Basintale expressed his appreciation to the people of Brong Ahafo for their support during the period of Suncity Fest. He also indicated that, regional Culturefest celebration gives MTN the opportunity to get closer to its customers and also support in meeting their technological as well as developmental needs.
