MTN donates towards Bakatue festival

Accra, July 5, GNA - Mobile Telecommunications Network (MTN) Ghana, has donated GH¢ 1000 cedis cash and assorted company products and souvenirs worth another GH¢ 1,000 cedis to the Chiefs and people of Edina in the Central Region towards their annual Bakatue festival. A statement issued in Accra said the presentation was made at the fore-court of the traditional council and received by Nana Eduakwa V, Chief of Atonkwa, on behalf of the Paramount Chief of Edina Traditional Council, Nana Conduah VI.

Mr. Victor Bannerman-Chedid, Senior Manager, Customer Management, MTN Ghana, who did the presentation on behalf of MTN, noted that the company was pleased to be associated with the celebration of Bakatue, which draws massive attention both in Ghana and abroad and continues to exhibit the rich traditions and uniqueness of the festival and people of Edina.

He said MTN's association with this exciting festival was due to the "Can do spirit" displayed by contesting groups during the regatta. "For us at MTN, the Bakatue festival, a recognized cultural event, is an avenue to demonstrate the company's commitment to larger Ghanaian community in which we operate," he said. Nana Eduakwa V expressed the Council's appreciation for the support and urged MTN to be committed to delivering reliable telecommunication's service whilst enriching the communities in which they operate. The statement said MTN is also sponsoring a musical concert, a float and a regatta competition as part of the celebration.
