Big Ada, July 30, GNA - MTN Ghana on Wednesday presented a cheque for 4,000 Ghana cedis to the Ada Traditional Council as part of its contribution towards the celebration of the Ada Asafotufiam Festival slated from August 6 to 12.
The sponsorship package also included assorted MTN souvenirs, advertisements, floats, mobile money account for some members of the traditional council, beach jams and community football gala. Mr. Admiral Abbey from the Marketing Department of MTN told journalists that the company decided to again sponsor this year's festival due to its commitment to the people of Ada and the festival. "Our continuous association with the Asafotufiam festival stems from the fact that it celebrates the achievements of our ancestors through their victories in wars for settlement. MTN is an achiever and we are happy to be associated with a festival which celebrates achievers and people with the 'Can- Do' spirit", he said. He said as part of MTN's commitment to communities in which it operated, it had set up a foundation which aims at uplifting the communities and sharing in their achievements to ensure their development.
Mr. Abbey said MTN was in the process of establishing Information and Communication Centres across the 10 regions to help improve the knowledge of Ghanaians in ICT. Nene Debra IV, Chairman of the Planning Committee, thanked the MTN for responding to the council's quest for sponsorship and called on all citizens of Ada both in and outside the country to come home for the festival.
