MTN urges Creative Arts Industry Players to embrace Digital Marketing

The General Manager for MTN Marketing Services, Mr. Richard Acheampong has urged members of the creative arts industry to take advantage of the benefits of ‘digital marketing’ to showcase their works to the world and generate income.

He said this at the launch of the MTN Hitmaker Season Three held at MTN Ridge Towers Office in Accra.


He noted that Musicians, Actors, Actresses and App Developers, could take advantage of the digital space made available on the MTNplay platform to upload their songs, music videos, comic videos to gain income from the downloads made by patrons.


The launch of the MTN Hitmaker Show was held under the theme “Dream It Be It”.


In his address, Mr. Acheampong stated that, the 2014 edition of Hitmaker promises to be bigger and more exciting. “We are excited to be launching MTN Hitmaker Season Three after two successful editions. The platform is being opened again for those who have unique musical talents and are ready to showcase their creativity.” The ultimate winner walks home with an album recording deal worth Ghc100,000.00.


Prospective contestants for the Hitmaker show are to drop their demos at MTN branch offices, MTN Hitmaker partner stations across the country or upload it on MTNplay.com. The platform is opened until 22nd August after which the entries will be screened and the best contestants invited for auditioning.

The MTN Hitmaker show will be broadcast on selected television stations for a 13 week period during which 12 finalists will perform their compositions on stage and will be assessed by a panel of judges. There will be SMS voting for the general public as well.


MTN Hitmaker Season Three features a new judge, the CEO of Last Two Music Group, Mr. Edward Nana Poku Osei, better known as Hammer, who is a recording engineer by profession. He joins Bessa Simons and Offie Cudjoe as Hitmaker Season Three judges. Peace Hyde joins Bola Ray to MC the program for Season Three.


The Acting Executive Director of the National Theater of Ghana, Ms Amy Appiah Frimpong, who represented the Deputy Minister for Tourism, commended MTN for initiating the MTN Hitmaker program.


The winner of Hitmaker Season Two, Koo Ntakra also launched his two singles at the event. In 2013, MTN took a decision to redefine support for the creative arts industry from just sponsoring music reality shows to empowering people with talent to compose and perform their own songs. The introduction of MTN Hitmaker show is an innovation in the country and has been highly commended by industry analyst
