Accra, 29 May, GNA - A television station, MTV Base Live is a new pan African 24 hour English language music channel airing to about 1.3 million households in sub Saharan Africa which targets the African youth and shows only African music to the rest of the world has been lunched in Accra.
Speaking to journalists at a press briefing, Mr. Alex Okosi General Manager, MTV Networks Africa said the programme aims at showing casing to the rest of the world the best of Africa music by combining brilliant, talented musicians from Ghana and the rest of African countries to the world.
He said that MTV is looking at promoting music video from Africa and Ghana, which portrays the creativity of the artiste.
Mr Okosi told GNA that MTV is committed in developing African music by portraying to the rest of the world that the African artiste can also produce quality music that compete with artistes from the developed countries and showcasing them along their peers from around the world He said they are looking forward to using the Programme to promote tourism in Africa adding, " when we show these video clips people in the western countries would see that Africa is not all about War but we have a lot to offer."
He said: " from next month MTV Base would be focusing on Ghanaian hiplife artistes to the rest of the world.
He also took the chance to introduce some of the artistes such as DJ Rickus, from New York, Swatta Kamp a hip hop sensational group from South Africa who have arrived in Accra on a tour and some Ghanaian hiplife artistes like Obour, VIP and Tic Tac.
MTV Base Live is produced by MTV Networks Africa and would focus on African music, relevant to young African viewers, including R&B, hip pop, kwaito, hip life and Afro beat that would portray the cultural creativity of African music and artistes.
