The Musician Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has entered into a collaboration with the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) to present a peace concert ahead of the December 7 polls.

A statement copied to the Ghana News Agency said the two institutions were partnering to present a national peace concert at the forecourt of GBC on December 5 with sponsorship from STAR-Ghana.

The deal was sealed when Mr Bice Osei Kuffour, the President of MUSIGA led the team to pay a courtesy call on Dr Kwame Akuffo Annof-Ntow, the newly appointed Director General of GBC to discuss collaboration in a number of areas.

Mr Kuffour said there was a longstanding relationship between the Union and the GBC and that the visit was to reignite the collaboration.

Mr Kuffuor expressed the hope that the two organisations, which both had national development as a priority, would find ways to deepen cooperation.

He cited the MUSIGA Voices of Peace TV show, which took place prior to the elections of 2012, and the live broadcast of the MUSIGA Peace concert of the same year as some of the support the Union had received from GBC in its operations.

Dr Annof-Ntow thanked MUSIGA for the visit and agreed that the two organisations had to reach a common ground on which to collaborate.

He assured the Union of his readiness to receive an update on the relationships between the two organisations with a view on what more can be done in collaboration.

Other executives representing the MUSIGA at the meeting were Reverend Dr Thomas Yawson, the Second Vice President of MUSIGA Ras Appiah Levi, the Greater Accra branch Chairman, Reverend Fiifi Khan Agyarkwa the Administrator, and Ahuma Bosco Ocansey, the Director of Communications and Special Projects.

Also representing GBC at the meeting were Francisca Ashietey-Odunton, the Deputy Director General, and Betty Oppong-Appau, the Director of Television at the GBC.
