The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has congratulated John Dramani Mahama on his election as President of Ghana.
In a statement issued by MUSIGA's President, Bessa Simons, the Union expressed optimism about the opportunities this leadership transition presents for the creative arts sector and the nation’s cultural heritage.
"This significant victory marks a new chapter for our nation, and we are excited about the potential it holds for the creative arts sector and cultural heritage," the statement read.
MUSIGA pledged its full support for the incoming administration's Black Star Experience initiative. This program aims to position Ghana as a global cultural hub through a series of activities, including film festivals, culinary showcases, and fashion events. The Union emphasized the vital role of culture and creative arts in national development and highlighted the need for robust policies to maximize their impact.
Commending Dr. Bawumia's statesmanship
The Union also commended Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the main contender in the presidential election, for his gracious concession. According to MUSIGA, his acceptance of the electoral outcome helped to ease tensions and promote national unity.
