The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has congratulated international Ghanaian musician Rocky Dawuni on his nomination for the Grammys in the reggae category.
This historic feat as the first Ghanaian to receive a Grammy nomination deserves tons of commendation and we join you in this your joyous moment as you celebrate your nomination.
Many of us are not surprised at this feat as we have closely monitored your work on the international circuit.
Your dedication to the cause of Ghanaian music cannot be overemphasized as you cut your busy schedule to join us for the international launch of the Ghana Music Week 2016 in both Washington DC and New York.
As the MUSIGA Global Ambassador, your accomplishment instills a certain sense of pride in us and we applaud your achievement unreservedly. Apart from your feats on the musical front, your humanitarian work also deserves celebration.
As we prepare for the Grammys in February next year, we urge all Ghanaians to support Rocky with prayers so that as the Grammy Academy goes through their work, the unique qualities of your album “Branches of the Same Tree” shines forth and you bring the award home to Ghana.
We will also join your homecoming concert at Alliance Francaise on Friday December 18 to celebrate this historic feat.
