An astute radio presenter in the Ashanti Region, Nana Boateng Murphy known on radio as Grandmaster Murphy has called on the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) in Brong Ahafo & Ashanti Regions to step up their game.

DJ Murphy Lee who is the host of the Mid Morning Show on Bohye FM in Kumasi has lamented that MUSIGA as a union has failed in living up to its expectations as far as Ashanti & Brong Ahafo Regions are concerned.

According to him, the structure which constitutes the Ashanti & B/A chapter of MUSIGA and its parental body has remained dormant since the inception of the Union. He observed that the association has lost its capacity to equip the musicians in the region.

“It is very sad to talk about MUSIGA. How many musicians in this region know the location of their office in B/A?” he queried.

He noted that the B/A MUSIGA for now has been irreverent in the eyes of the public due to its impotent public relations.

“Regardless of how effective an organization is, it doesn’t have the desired impact if the public and consumers are not aware of the brand’s successes or contributions. MUSIGA must up their game,”

He posited that most of the musicians are not well informed on even the meeting schedules of the union.

“You ask some of the musicians if they know about the meeting days, and the response will shock you, but I think they should have a public relations campaign that educates and informs people about the contributions of the organization and make it more relevant in the public eye.”

He further stated that MUSIGA’s attention seemingly is sighted at its headquarters alone, and he is therefore calling on the administrators of the union to take a closer look at the day to day administration of other branches and help put mechanisms in place to put the Ashanti & B/A MUSIGA on track.
