Rapper D-black has recounted how MUSIGA led by Bice Osei Kuffour popularly known as Obour took away money from Vodafone for his work without his consent.

The rapper on Happy FM last Monday made this statement when questioned if he is a member of the Musicians Union of Ghana. Answering the question, D-Black said:

“I used to be a member but about four years ago when I wasn’t; I was watching the African Cup of Nations.

All of a sudden a Vodafone advert came on the screen and it was my song but I had no idea who gave permission for my song to be used for a Vodafone commercial. I wasn’t part of MUSIGA, I wasn’t part of any society.

We learnt that MUSIGA and another society, COSGA had been paid for the use of my song months ago and I had no idea so since then I haven’t really bothered to have anything to do with MUSIGA or COSGA”.

The rapper known in real life as Desmond Blackmore added that his in-house music producer, DJ Breezy counseled him few weeks ago to register with MUSIGA “because he want to register the new album we are working on and his beats.”

He added that he paid heed to DJ Breezy’s advise but he has not submitted the forms because he doesn’t know the benefits he will enjoy as a member of the union.
