Yes, the Kumawood movie, Made In Agege has been nominated this year at the Africa Academy Movie Awards and it’s the first time any movie from Kumawood has made it’s way to the prestigious awards ceremony.
The part 3 & 4 of the movie which was titled “Cursed Treasure” was nominated in the Best Film In An African Language category. The movie will be competing with the following movies in that category.
1.Brotherhood Eye – Mali
2.Bala Bala Sese – Uganda
3.Missing God – Nigeria
4. Cursed Treasure(Made In Agege) – Ghana
5.Wako – Uganda
6. Daggers of Life (Agbe Fe Akumehewo) – Ghana
The producer and director of the movie, Kenneth Yeboah, speaking to Ghbase.com expressed his excitement at the nomination his movie has earned at AMAA
“It’s exciting to get a movie you put so much work in, nominated at such a prestigious award like the AMAA and I am very confident, it’s going to be a win for Ghana when the winner is finally announced. I believe there is more that we can do as film makers and my film is also helping in a way put Ghana out there.” Kenneth Yeboah told Ghbase.com
Shirley Frimpong Manso’s directed Rebecca also had two nominations in the categories: AMAA 2016 Award For Achievements In Editing and Sound.
