December 7, 2016. Ghana went to the polls to determine a new direction for country, and after 48 hours, it was announced that John Mahama lost the elections to NPP’s Nana Akufo-Addo.
Social media was awash with jabs and hilarious memes after the new leader of the country was announced, as many citizens expressed satisfaction with results of the elections.
A year later, these old jabs have been dug out and Mahama’s name has once again come up as people remember the day and celebrate or mourn, depending on their political party.
Singer turned politician and businesswoman, Diamond Appiah is among those that have joined in teasing the past government for their defeat in the 2016 polls.
In a video via her Instagram page, Diamond sings and dances along to the ‘election victory’ song meant for the NDC, titled ‘Onaapo.’ She also captioned her post:
“I want to take dis opportunity to wish John Dramani Mahama, NDC Sympathizers n my NDC friends a Happy 7th December Throwback. We know opposition de bee K3k3. This is a little reminder of how we all voted for change exactly a year ago. May the memories of your painful lost bring Joy to our hearts as we celebrate a year of Change in Government.. #The President's Last Baby #President Nana Addo anaa Onaaaaaapo.”
