A new award scheme to recognize the efforts of movie industry professionals and stakeholders across Africa, the Golden Movie Awards-Africa , was officially launched in Accra on Wednesday February 11 2015.
The Golden Movie Awards-Africa is to set a credible continental Standard of Excellence by which the best actors in the movie industry of Africa may attain international acclaim through national recognition. The Golden Movie Awards-Africa is intended to be a multifaceted cross-cultural bestowment system indeed, creating conditions under which, the actors in the Africa movie industry may develop a sense of self-assured creativity by measuring their works against the exacting demands of international standards.
You are Welcome to GOLDEN MOVIE AWARDS AFRICA, an event instituted by NMJ GHANA and its Africa partners, the GOLDEN MOVIE AWARDS-AFRICA is an event that seeks to honor individuals in the African movie industry who have impacted and excelled greatly in the movie world under the year of review and has also embarked on humanitarian works throughout their countries, this awards seeks to influence the movie industry for great standards as we throw light on individuals and firms yearly by celebrating them. It is also an award scheme that seeks to build and grow the stakeholders through its capacity building programs and activities with its partners.
The Awards will bring together more than 1,500 key film professionals, craftspeople and Decision?makers from across Africa, to honour celebrate and promote the African, film industries.
The Golden Movie Awards-Africa is therefore a gate of opportunity, signifying change as well as renewal. It is a symbol of Africa assuming its continental cultural leadership role by bringing the world to Africa and Africa to the world. This is a victory of culture to which actors in the movie industry are cordially invited.
Put plainly and simply, this is our purpose for initiating this award system which is intended to evolve through the years in an effort to remain an appropriate and relevant reward system matching the dynamic talents of the upcoming generations of actors.
Theme:
Build your goal and protect the goal: we believe everyone in life has a dream or let’s say goal, the first edition of his award will focus on building the stakeholders of the film industry in Africa through our developmental programs that we have developed with some of our partners. However in building your goal you need to have in mind the need to protect that goal, we therefore have the theme for this year awards as “Build your goal & Protect your goal”.
Where & Who Can Enter the Golden Movie Awards?
We are open to every film producer or stakeholder on the Africa continent, but Films may be entered only by the owner of the film or the owner’s Authorized Representative.
It is NOT required that the Entrant be a member of the any association, however individual short film and production firms can Enter, Official Rules and Regulations And how to apply OR enter are available online on the official website of the awards scheme at www.goldenmovieawards.com you can visit this site for information on the awards.
QUALIFICATION FOR NOMINATION
To qualify for the GOLDEN MOVIE AWARDS, the Movie must have being released under the year of review, which is from 1ST January 2014 –31st December, 2014
OPEN OF NOMINATION
Nominations for the Golden Movie Awards will be from 12th February, 2015, to April 12th, 2015 whereas every movie producer can file its nomination, however the jury at its own discretion can nominate a movie or a character for an award based on performance.
ACTIVITIES
The Golden Movie Awards, award ceremony will a be a five day event with the following activities.
• Day1 – FREE FILM SHOW FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC (in all participating counties)
• Day 2--- PROCTECT THE GOAL AWARENESS &FILM SHOW IN SELECTED SCHOOLS in Ghana
• Day 2—SEMINAR/WORKSHOP FOR FILM STAKEHOLDERS
• Day 3--- CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAM FOR WOMEN IN FILM BY GMAF&AWDF
• Day4—NOMINEES’ PARTY/JAMS (Ghana)
• Day 5 ----GOLDEN MOVIE AWARDS-AFRICA.-(Main Event Accra-Ghana)
The Board.
Grand Jury / 11 members
Every year a Grand Jury including 11 members is appointed. The members are specialists in the specific subjects receiving the award, and they appoint their own president, the members of the grand Jury exclude themselves from being chosen for an Award.
21 FACULTY MEMBERS
Every year a faculty including 21 members is appointed these members will be selecting/ nominating/ and short listing 10people or institution for the Grand Jury to make its final five nominees for a category, and they appoint their own chairman. The members of the faculty exclude themselves from being chosen for an Award. (and the members will be made up of industry players and non-industry players).
