Veteran sound engineer and revered entertainment analyst, Mr. Fred Kyei Mensah aka Fredyma has said on AM PLUZZ on Pluzz FM that, elections can affect the patronage of events depending on how crucial a particular election is.

“2016 election is going to be a crucial one because it is a transition. The eight year term is over and either a new government will take over or the same government will remain so it behooves on event organizers to be smart in their dealings,” he said.

Fredyma also advised musicians that they should start targeting the strong political parties and start composing songs for them in other to gain some funds from the political parties.

“In Ghana, immediately an artiste associates his or her brand with a political party on musical basics, people start to shift their interest in the brand and when care is not taken, the artiste will find his or her career in ruins but that shouldn’t be the case,” he stated.

For event organizers he advised that they get the necessary logistics necessary for these political parties since they use a lot of entertainment accouterments during political campaigns.

Fredyma said what saddens his heart is the fact that the politicians take advantage of the musicians during this period.

“They are ready to negotiate and tell you that after they win, your balance will be given to you and most of them don’t deliver their part of the deal. A typical example is Lucky Mensah who came out to complain that he was not given full payment and was later settled,” Fredyma recounted.

He also said the musicians should do business with the politicians instead of aligning themselves to them. He is positive about the fact that logistics providers will make the best out of the situation.
