The road is gradually coming to an end for two delegates participating in the 9th edition of the Malaika pageant.
Next week, there would be the very first eviction and delegates are dreading this day. It’s been three weeks now since the competition started and the delegates have undergone a series of tasks.
For their first task in the pageant, the delegates had a pleasant moment with ace broadcaster Kwame Sefa-Kayi in an interesting episode dubbed ‘Media Interaction’.
In that episode, the delegates were involved in a one-on-one dialogue with their host, which was a good opportunity for their fans and viewers to get to know them better.
In the second episode, they toured the Greater Accra region as part of their local tourism episode. With their first stop being Ada, they were welcomed by the queen mother, Naana Adede Akrofi, the people of Ada foah and hosted by the District Chief Executive, Rex Daniel Wusah.
They also had a lot of fun visiting the Songoh Salt factory, where they were taken through the various processes of salt making. After the salt factory experience, the delegates made a donation of clothes, assorted items and boxes of Safina mineral water to the people of the community.
The delegates continued their adventure to the historic township of James Town in Accra. They took the opportunity to tour the Lighthouse which is situated near the Mantse Agbo Naa. Also situated at James Town is the James Forte, which used to be the lodging place for the Portuguese in 1576 in the then Gold-Coast, now Ghana.
They preceded their tour to the Shai Hills, where the delegates had the opportunity to see baboons, ostriches and old cave homes of the Shai people in the olden days.
After all the fun, the very first eviction episode comes off next week, where two delegates would be evicted out of the Malaika House due to their performances during the ‘Media Interaction’ and ‘Cultural Night Task’.
It’s now time for the audience to vote to keep their favourite contestant in the competition by texting their names to 1757.
