Malaika Queens prepare for international pageants

Miss Malaika Ghana 2005, Patricia Akuamoah, and the first runner-up of last year's contest, Linda Debrah, are preparing to take part in two separate international beauty pageants.

As part of their prize packages, the queens will be representing Ghana in two grand international pageants, Miss Malaika International 2005 and Miss Intercontinental 2005.

Information reaching The Mirror indicates that all particulars of the Queens have been submitted to the organizers of both pageants and the two are being groomed to give off their best in the pageants.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that Miss Malaika International is likely to take place in Benin this year.

According to the organizers of Miss Malaika Ghana, Charterhouse, young, pretty and intelligent Patricia will compete with other selected queens from Africa for the top Malaika crown.

Linda Debrah, who was crowned the first- runner up in last year's pageant, automatically qualified to represent Ghana in the Miss Intercontinental pageant in Istanbul, Turkey.

Meanwhile, Patricia is undertaking a campaign against malaria in the country.

She began her project in February, working with school children of Alsyd Academy, Morning Star, St Theresa's and Christ the King schools.

The students engaged in painting competition in which they were required to paint pictures that reflected the theme: Fighting Against Malaria.

The competition was dubbed "Paint Away Malaria".
