The Seventh National Widows Alliance Conference (NAWAC-2015) will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the Ghana International Trade Fair Centre, La in Accra, actress, cultural icon and multiple international award-winner, Akumaa Mama Zimbi, has disclosed.

She announced this at a short ceremony where she received a donation of food items from Madam Rosemary Addo-Parker, accompanied by Pastor Mansah Pekyie of Faith Vision Prayer Ministry, Tema.

The conference, according to Mama Zimbi, continues to serve as the ideal dialogue platform for the advocacy of a comprehensive policy and legal direction for elevating the standards of widows in Ghana. The theme for NAWAC-2015 is ‘Transforming Women Through Education’. It is also to celebrate the United Nations International Widows Day.

Mama Zimbi disclosed that the event would bring together over 3,000 widows from across Ghana under one roof to foster strength and a sense of purpose and also encourage widows to learn to grow in self-confidence.

She stated that the conference is also an appropriate forum to advocate against injustices being faced by widows in certain cultures on the national level.

At the conference, the widows as usual would also be given free medical examination, addressed by important personalities, engage in a mini-trade fair, receive gifts, sing, and dance and have plenty to eat and drink as well.
