The Madina Police have arrested a 38 year old Mason, Kweku Kwakye Dankwa who ran away after pouring hot oil on his girlfriend.

According to Detective Chief Inspector Edward M. Zokottoh of the Madina Police Station, the victim, Theresa Kusiwa, 38, a plantain chips trader at Adenta near Accra, was involved in a romantic relationship with the accused for five years and were living under the same roof until the incident occurred.

Giving a vivid account of the case, the Detective said in April 26, this year, a misunderstanding erupted between Kwakye and Kusiwa and in the course of the confusion, the accused fetched some of the oil Theresa was using in frying her plantain chips and poured it on her, resulting in multiple wounds on her chest.

After the incident, Theresa was sent to the hospital whilst the accused, sensing danger, went into hiding.

The unfortunate incident was then reported to the Madina Police Station.

On June 17 Kwakye decided to return home after Theresa promised him that she had forgiven him of the incident.

The Police said on the same day, the accused reappeared and subsequently, the Police apprehended him.

The accused appeared at the Circuit Court Nine of Cocoa Affairs Court where he admitted the offence and attributed it to the devil.

He was remanded in Police custody to reappear on July 9.
