Kwaku Forkuo, a driver, who stole two breeds valued at about ?2 million from a Roman Catholic Monastery in Kristoboase in the Techiman District, has been sentenced to two years' imprisonment. Forkuo, pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing.
Nana John Boateng, Chairman of the Community Tribunal in Tuobodom, convicting the accused said "to go to such a holy place to steal is unimaginable".
Prosecuting, Police Inspector Comfort Kemasah told the court that on June 23 Forkuo went to the Monastery at about 6am to beg for money. He told a security man on duty that his wife was on admission at the Techiman Holy Family Hospital and needed ?300,000.
The security man told him that since it was a Sunday the officials had gone for prayers and that it was impossible for him to see them. Forkuo left but sneaked back to the Monastery, lured two of the dogs on the compound and took them to Techiman to sell.
