Man charged with threatening to kill ex-wife's lover

Asamankese, May 23, GNA - Maxwell Adu-Asare, a Cocoa Purchasing Clerk who threatened to kill his ex-wife's lover, has been granted a 10 million-cedi with one surety by the Asamankese Circuit Court. Adu-Asare pleaded not guilty and he will appear in court again on June 9.

Prosecuting, Detective Police Chief Inspector Osei Owusu told the court that Adu-Asare, until December last year, was married to Dorcas. He said in February a businessman, Daniel Kofi Asare, befriended Dorcas.

On March 27 when Asare was asleep he heard a banging on his door and his sister shouted that a group was at his door to attack him so he should remain indoors.

Asare opened the door and saw some men holding clubs and other implements. When he demanded to know of their mission, Adu-Asare said he should bring out the woman in his room "or blood would flow". Asare invited them to inspect the room but did not find any woman and Adu-Asare threatened that he should count himself dead if he did not stop having an affair with his wife.

A report was made to the police and Adu-Asare was arrested.
