Man defrauds two sisters of 31 million cedis.

Tema, March 22, GNA- Two sisters who have been defrauded by a self-employed man of a total amount of 31 million cedis harassed the accused outside the court room when he (accused) was granted 80 million cedis bail by the Tema Circuit Court "B".

Jones Kofi Atiaku pleaded not guilty to charges of fraud by false pretences and will reappear on March 31 2004.

The defence counsel had to come back to the court to complain about the harassment of Atiaku when the women accused him of taking all their trading capital to render them poor for nearly a year.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Alice Gyamfi told the court presided over by Mr Stephen Teye that about nine months ago, two traders Vivian Kpikpi and Edith Kpikpi who live at A Lang Community two, were approached by Atiaku that he could supply them with a quantity of GTP textiles.

She said Atiaku therefore, convinced them to make available certain amount of money to pay for the textiles at GTP to enable him supply them.

Vivian and Edith who are traders and deal in textiles readily gave him 22 million cedis and 9.5 million cedis respectively and after some time, Atiaku started telling them stories. Chief Inspector Gyamfi said when all efforts to retrieve their money failed; they made a report to the police. 22 March 04
