Man "desecrates" Parliament House

A middle-aged man looking very normal last week Tuesday did the unthinkable when he eased himself in the precincts of Parliament House at the Kwame Nkrumah Conference Centre Accra in full glare of passers-by.

Nature seemed to have “called” him unprepared near the law makers building and he chose to do what he thought was better of two evils-“do them before they do you”. Surprisingly a security man on duty refused to arrest him, perhaps sympathising with his plight.

Dressed nicely in a local wear with a clean pair of black shoes, the man squatted over one of the open culverts, removed his underpants and eased himself in the full glare of passers-by.

After the act he wore his pants, pulled up his shorts and walked away with a look of satisfaction on his face. Some passers-by shocked at the spectacle, stopped to properly observe the act while one asked: “is he really defecating?”

When the “Times” drew the attention of a security man at one of the car parks to what had happened he said that since he did not see the man in the act, he would not do anything about it.

“Why didn’t you arrest him yourself?” he asked the reporter.

Persistent pleas to him to inspect the culvert for an evidence of the man’s crime and arrest him accordingly, fell on deaf ears. My duty is to watch over these cars. I cannot leave that to do something else,” he remarked.

He stood and watched as the man walked slowly but steadily away to freedom.
