Asamankese (E/R), May 19, GNA - Mama Awale, who out of jealousy, brutally injured Mr Kwame Bosompem for buying a drink for his wife, has been fined five million cedis by the Asamankese Circuit Court for causing harm.

He pleaded guilty and would serve four years in prison in default of payment of the fine.

Police Detective Chief Inspector, Osei Owusu, prosecuting, told the court, presided over by Mr S.S. Appiah that, the complainant, Mr Bosompem who lived at Atonsu, near Apedwa, travelled to Adaakwa near Suhum for a funeral.

He was drinking at a spot when a woman asked him for a drink and he obliged but soon after, Awale, a farmer in the village, entered the drinking bar and angrily queried Bosompem for drinking with the wife. The prosecution said there was hot exchange of words and the two were separated but the next day, Bosompem was on his way to the funeral grounds when Awale met him.

He said without any provocation, Awale pushed Bosompem down, picked a big stone and hit him in the face resulting in profuse bleeding and he was rushed to the hospital unconscious. Awale, the prosecutor said, then fled but a search party located and arrested him.
