Man fined one million cedis for resisting arrest

Accra, Feb 12, GNA - An Accra Circuit Court presided over by Justice Emmanuel Ankama on Thursday fined Mr Stephen Ofori-Boateng, a Driver, 1.2 million cedis for resisting Police arrest when he broke traffic regulations,.

He also faced charges of dangerous driving, driving on the wrong side of the road as well as causing obstruction on the road. Boateng pleaded guilty to the charges.

He would go to jail for six months in default.

Police Inspector Michael Quarm said Ofori-Boateng, who was driving along the Christian Village road around Legon and Achimota failed to observe traffic regulations and drove on the wrong side of the road, which was dangerous to other road users.

Inspector Quarm said Ofori-Boateng resisted arrest and asserted that the Police had made a mistake since drivers had been using that portion of the road for almost three years.
