Private legal practitioner and counselor, Reverend Kofi Boateng, has explained the meaning of maturity in a relationship.

According to the clergyman, maturity in a relationship is not determined by the age of a spouse, but rather by emotional intelligence.

He stated that there are individuals who are advanced in age but lack logic and consideration in their actions and interactions with others.

Speaking on ‘Home Affairs’, Rev Boateng said, “When discussing maturity in relationships or marriage, we are not focusing on age. This is because there are people who are older in age but lack wisdom or maturity in their thoughts and actions.”

He emphasized that marriage often involves conflict and tension, so individuals must be emotionally intelligent, empathetic, and effective communicators to maintain a successful marriage.

“In marriage, emotional intelligence is crucial. It requires managing tensions and conflicts in a way that supports the relationship. This involves empathy and respect for the decisions of others,” he added.

He continued, “An emotionally intelligent person can resolve issues peacefully, show vulnerability, and express their low moments without fear.”
