Putting songs together, writing and the arrangement must come with much talent and experience to be able to do it to perfection.
Flex newspaper this week has taken it upon itself to delve into the debut album of one of the most promising gospel artiste who happens to have been discovered by TV3's reality show “Mentor”. She goes by the name Mavis.
Mavis’ album “Obaatan” is undoubtedly among the reigning gospel songs in the music industry currently. The album “Obaatan” contains ten solid tracks and two bonus ones. Her album indeed hasn't exposed her in person in that, all the songs were composed, written and arranged perfectly and in an experienced way unlike it`s been witnessed on many debut albums.
It often happens that most artistes get it correct in the second to third album but Mavis did more than it was expected of her, Excellent.( Bravo)To delve into the tracks, let's talk about the first on the CD “Aseda” where she gave thanks to God because he protected her when her enemies had wanted to kill her or make her back slide.
“Thanks and praises will I only sing unto the Lord” Mavis words. On the second track which is the album title “Obaatan”, she gave hope to the hopeless by saying that, no matter how deep Satan has taken you, don't say you are left behind because God still loves you and He's still in His parenthood. The Words in the first two songs are very encouraging and touching.
“Ma me nya nkwa” is the third track. It is a supplication song, asking God to give her life, peace and prosperity. If God gives you life in peace and in prosperity, then definitely you will live a happy life hence the fourth track “Anigye”. The fifth track “Mmua w'ano” is a worship song, asking God not to keep silence in all her endeavors.
From where she came from and where she sees herself today, according to her this shows how God loves her which is in the track six “Odo”. In the track seven, “Gyae su” it also talks about the sufferings of the depressed who always think and rely on men to redeem them.
The song says, as long as the God of (Prophet Abruku-Abruka) lives, men should Stop crying, because, if you have life, you have everything. The song featured the affable engineer and musician Nacy of Nacy Recordz.
The track eight “Dombarima” also talks about how mightily and majestic God is and the tenth track is the worship of the track “Ma me nya nkwa” and “W'aye nsenkyerene” whiles some other two instrumentations were all recorded and arranged by Nacy, Roro, K.D, Shadrack Yawson (Shaa) and George Forest.
