The 27-YEAR-old unsung musician from Ho, Israel Mawueta, who made the Volta Region proud at the recently held Ghana Music Awards as the producer of the best traditional song, has suddenly become the toast of music lovers in the area.

His award-winning album, “Vo Amegbetor” (Fear Human Beings), continues to fill the air waves. The award is a deserving sequel to his performance at the annual congress of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) held in Ho recently, which proved to be a real blessing that will never be forgotten in the lives of musicians in the country, especially those in the Volta Region.

The great performance at the congress literally laid the foundation for the selection of Israel Maweta and his Supreme Singers of the Lord as the winner of the Best Traditional Song award.

Undoubtedly, Mawueta, who treated regional delegates to his latest album “Vo Agbemetor”, won the ultimate prize because of its creative nature, the wisdom in the message and the originality of all the lyrics in the tracks on the album.

In fact, this young musician has made the people of the Volta Region proud because he is the first to win a musical award at the national level. The award is a recognition for the value of the rich and diverse culture of the people in the region.

The winning album is composed in the “Zigi” and “Gabada” veins, two musical forms of the Ewes of the mid-Volta, and preaches virtue, glorification of the Lord Jesus Christ, as well as advise the youth to refrain from acts which may endanger their lives.

The tracks on Side A are “Vo Agbemetor”, “Ewonam”, Vinyeto”, “Donku wo wola dzi”, “Milo Mia noe wo”, “Elemawusi”, and “Yesu dufia,” with “Nuwuwu la gboo”, “Dzalele”, “Tsia de le dzadzam”, “Yehowa fe mowo”, “Malee malee”, “Fiam aesi maxle nye nkeke”, “Woadzim” on Side B.
