“The Director’s Call” is a platform that seeks to bring creative people from all fields in the filmmaking business to a common ground where working relationships can be strengthened to maximise performance.

There will be series of programmes annually that cover every aspect of filmmaking from Development, Pre-production, Production, and to Post-production.

The film is a strong medium of communication and must be treated with utmost value. We are simply giving every filmmaker the opportunity to be good and professional at what they do in their specialised fields through practical hands-on workshops and mentoring.

The maiden edition of The Director’s Call is a Director/Actor workshop dubbed “Directing the Actor: Discovering the Truth in Performance”. This is a three (3) day practical workshop with award winning film director Peter Sedufia and award winning actor Adjetey Anang. The workshop will also invite selected experienced actors (star actors) to mentor the participants and engage in practical on-camera presentations with them.

This is for the participants to learn how to bridge the tensed “New director/New actor and star actor” relationship. The aim is to coach participants (Directors/Actors) on how to work with the “Star Actor” in a first time experience.

Some of the star actors featured in this edition are: Fred Amugi, Ama K. Abebrese, Nana Ama Mcbrown and a host of other star actors.

The workshop is slated to take place in Accra from 26th – 28th May, 2017.

“The Director’s Call” is organised by OldFilm Productions – the producers of “MASTER AND 3 MAIDS” comedy TV series which aired on Viasat 1 Ghana in 2016, and made great waves on the comedy front. In the same year, OldFilm produced its debut feature length film called “KETEKE”, which premiered in 2017, and was a massive box office success.

As a way of infusing basic standard and professional practices in the filmmaking business among new and growing filmmakers, it is an objective of OldFilm Productions to organise regular programmes that seek to train and mentor young and aspiring creative people to be market ready for emerging opportunities in this field.

It is our vision at OldFilm to see young and emerging filmmakers make a professional career in the field of filmmaking. If individuals are able to positively touch the lives of other people through film and good storytelling, then collectively, a society can be changed.

It is our vision also, to see more and more film artists deliver with audacity, originality and authenticity. We want to coach and mentor creative people to have all the creative control they need on their creative projects to make them believable and true to life.

The aim of this practical workshop is for filmmakers to see for themselves how any director, even someone with very little experience, can effectively block a scene and get a believable performance from an actor!

And for actors, they will understand much more about acting truthfully. They will gain a tool for authentic performance and have more confidence and understanding of where emotion resides in the body. They will be better prepared for audition and camera work.

Application for The Director’s Call workshop opens on Wednesday 26th April, 2017 and closes on 18th May, 2017. Application fee is Ghc 100.
