The Vice Chairman of the Greater Accra Film Directors Guild of Ghana, McLord Ice has commended the role the National President of the Film Directors Guild of Ghana; Richard Yaw Boateng is playing to uplift the image of the Ghana film industry.
According to him the excellent work being done by the National president is an indicative of the fact that the Ghana movie industry will, in the shortest possible time, be uplifted beyond expectation and that Ghana will become one of the preferred destinations for films.
McLord Ice, who is one of Ghana’s most promising movie directors, disclosed in an interview that the President, Richard Yaw Boateng has led a delegation to India where they successfully broker deal with their counterparts in that country.
The deal he mentioned will create the opportunity for Bollywood film industry players to come to Ghana and shoot movies and do other movie related activities.
He averred that members of the Guild must all rally behind the president and his team, urging them to come together as one family.
McLord Ice said the current wrangling within the union which has culminated into splits must be addressed so that they all ca come together as a united front and build the industry.
He explained further that the bitterness which came as result of the trip to India where some factions felt neglected is regretted but was quick to add that members must see beyond who and whom was selected to go to India and see the gains the team derived and brought to Ghana.
According to him the MoU that was signed between Ghana and India as regards the development of the movie industry must be a factor that should unite them.
He revealed that the Guild election which comes off in July 2019 is open to members who are willing to contest various positions adding that, the current Guild Constitution is also open for amendments until the time for the elections and called on all to make their inputs so that a comprehensive constitution will be crafted for the effective running of the Guild.
McLord Ice who has worked on several movies including the Awaken which is yet to be released on Box Office and The Box, which is also yet to be premiered is working on a big documentary which industry players believe will blow the minds of Ghanaians and the international community.
The documentary, many people believe will take Ghana by storm even beyond what Anas Areneyaw Anas has done with the GFA mess.
