Funeral rite for Castro’s manager, DJ Amess was held on 4 July 2020 at his residence in Accra.

The artiste manager who died on June 4, 2020, after a short illness at the Korle Bu teaching hospital was finally laid to rest at the Awudome cemetery.

The brief funeral rite brought together some notable people in the entertainment space, whose lives the artiste manager affected positively.

The one-time manager of missing Castro has really paid his dues in full through his concerted effort towards unearthing talents and assisting promotion of many artistes both young and popular.

Among media and musicians who graced the occasion included Goodies Production, Isaac Abeiku Aidoo, Kojo Preko Dankwa, Eddie Ray, Christian Agyei Frimpong, Dr Cann, Mr Handsome, Afia Papabi, Bnosska, James Clarke for Chorkor Trotro fame, Albert Bonda, Edem Mensah, Tsotsorme, Nana Kwame Gyan, Jane A.

Darlyn Amess Kotei was born on 25th June 1970 at Akyem Tafo to Mr Daniel Kwasi Kwashie of blessed memory and Madam Comfort Abena Drah.

The late Darlyn Amess Kotei was known to friends and love ones as DJ Amess. He started his education at La Mix Primary School at AkyemTafo. He later furthered his course and completed his sixth form at Yilo Krobo Secondary Schoo.

He later furthered his course and completed the University of Cape Coast with a Bachelor’s Degree in Management.

He started his working life as a disc jockey popularly referred to as spinning in those days with the popular spinning group by name Makeba in Akyem Tafo in the Eastern Region.

His career as a radio presenter started in Accra with Top radio in the year 2005. He also worked as an artiste manager for musicians such as Castro de Destroyer, Daasebre Gyamera, Yaw Stone of Mentor fame, Jane A among others.

He was a regular entertainment pundit on Kasapa Entertainment, Onua Fm, Adom Entertainment Hall etc.

Amess was a sport entusiast and also a die-hard supporter of Asante Kotoko.
