Twitter released its much-awaited feature and it has made a lot of buzz around the world, especially Ghana.

Some Ghanaians have used the app already to express how they feel, others have also used it to promote their brands.

Meet Maya Patterson the brain behind the new Twitter feature.

Maya Patterson a Product Designer at Twitter. Before Twitter, she was the Product Designer for Facebook. Maya Patterson also has a degree in Psychology.

Maya Patterson is a strong advocate for black women in Tech, creating opportunities to meet and work with black women in the tech industry to increase the number of black women in the field.

She worked on the project with Alexis Breanne (Product Marketer and Research lead), Erin Mcgovern (Creative Project Manager), and Remy Bourgoin (Engineer).

The App according to a Twitter Blog post will add a more human touch to the way we use Twitter – your very own voice. There’s a lot that can be left unsaid or uninterpreted using text, so we hope voice Tweeting will create a more human experience for listeners and storytellers alike. Whether it’s #storytime about your encounter with wild geese in your neighbourhood, a journalist sharing breaking news or a first-hand account from a protest, we hope voice Tweeting gives you the ability to share your perspectives quickly and easily with your voice.

Maya Patterson in a tweet wrote, “yooo I just launched my first product at Twitter, and wow what a fun journey it’s been. this is our first experiment of many to learn more about how people on Twitter might use audio to share their voice…“

Alexis Breanne also took to Twitter to express her excitement, “I started at twitter in March and just got to launch my first product! Welcome to tweeting with your voice everyone!“

Jack Horner also posted on Twitter saying, “It’s a pretty special day. Today marks 1 year at Twitter and the launch of my first product here. So grateful for the people I get to work with.”

In a Tweet, Maya Patterson gave acknowledgement to the entire team responsible for making the feature a reality.
