Since his arrival in Ghana from his native Turkey in 2001, Mohammet Akkaya, has never missed a TV3 public entertainment including the famous Music, Music and TV3 Mentor One and Mentor Two series.

You may be amazed to know that this gentleman has two separate degrees in mechanical and electrical engineering from the University of Istanbul, Turkey.

Because of his presence at all programmes on TV3, most people who watched him danced his heart, spirit and soul out gave him the nick name, Mr. Music Music and Mr. Mentor.

Most people whom the Spectator spoke to about Mr. Akkaya, said they watch TV3 musical programmes particularly music-music and TV3 Mentor because of him and the funny way he dances to the tune and lyrics of music he hardly understands.

Despite the language barrier, Mr. Akkaya says music knows no nationality and cultures but one that cuts them across.

When the Spectator traced him at last Sunday?s TV3 Mentor 2, the only possible hideout for him, Mr. Akkaya said he loved entertainment, music for that matter not in Ghana alone but in his native Turkey.

My father and mother are born singers who transferred their musical gene into me.

Mr. Akkaya believes though without any scientific evidence that 70 per cent of Ghanaians love music and because of their love for music I decided to entertain them the more while they sit home comfortably behind their TV sets watching me dance.

When I asked Mr. Akkaya why he devotes so much time to attending every function TV3 organises, and whether he was not doing that to the neglect of his family, he replied in the negative.

Mr. Akkaya, 45, is a father of three, two boys and one girl all back home in Istanbul, the Turksih capital, all of them in tertiary schools.

Asked if this was his first time in Africa and Ghana for that matter, Mr. Akkaya told me that he got to know about Ghana and was subsequently invited by a Lebanese businessman who was in Turkey on a business trip.

Presently, Mr. Akkaya is head of mechanical and electrical departments of Afrotropic Cocoa Processing Company, a new cocoa processing factory on the Spintex Road expected to become operational in February next year.

Mr. Akkaya says he will continue to watch pro-grammes and dance at any occasion just to entertain the public.
