Meet ‘Oyibo Princess’ British ex-hostess now Nollywood actress

Claire Edun popularly known in showbiz circles as ‘Oyibo Princess’ has carved a career in acting in Nigeria’s movie industry Nollywood after mastering Nigeria’s ever popular pidgin language.

The British former air hostess from Winchester, Oyibo Princess now speaks pidgin without sweat and has just landed a role in Nollywood movie and is nailing it!

“My mother and my father no dey born me for UK here oo … this no be Naija original but na Naija now…” she opens her interview in straight pidgin to introduce herself.

Claire teaches some quick pidgin lessons noting that one can literary say one thing and everyone knows what you are saying or even make just make sounds like "eh—en", "ah--a—" to communicate.

Quizzed on why Nollywood, she says, “I’ve always had the passion to coach different backgrounds in cultures, religions and things like that so I think we are all equal and it doesn’t matter what we have or haven’t got...”
