She’s been rapping since age six and keeps exhibiting her rap prowess on songs she’s recorded with the guidance of her father Quophi Okyeame, a renowned songwriter, music producer and former member of the now-defunct Akyeame music group as well as her mother, Mrs Stacy Amoateng of Music Music and Restoration fame.

Calista Meusique Ama Adoma Amoateng, 13, has three songs to her credit. As though it was aimed at communicating to the world her dream of cementing her name as one of the best female rappers to look out for, Calista in 2017 released ‘I Can Make It’ – a song which featured Esi of TV3 Talented Kidz. She followed it up with ‘All Eyes on Me’ featuring Eno Barony in 2018 and has just released ‘One of a Kind’.

Chronicling how the journey began, the young rapper states that her talent was unearthed when she started saying her nursery rhymes in perfect timing to a beat in her father’s studio.

“I remember walking into my dad’s studio; he was making a beat for someone and that day we had learned a rhyme called ‘black black black sheep’. While the beat was going, I was timing and I started rapping with the nursery rhyme,” she says.

Calista discloses she takes inspiration from her parents, fans and siblings.

In this video, the ‘African rap goddess’ highlights how her parents have contributed to her craft, the ‘hell’ she went through before getting her father to collaborate with her on a song, how she manages stardom etc.
