Meet The ‘Son Of Satan’

Tue, 4 Oct 2011 Source: News one

There is a rising acting talent in the Ghanaian movie industry. His name is Jerry Botwe and he is already creating a lot of sensation.

Even as an upcoming actor, Jerry has appeared in a little over 20 movies, with some of them being movies worth writing home about. Jerry played a leading role as a son of Lucifer in Socrates Safo’s yet-to-be-released ‘Sons of Satan’ and NEWS-ONE caught up with him for a glimpse into his life.

Who Are U Dating? Wow! I am dating a colleague actor by name Angela and we have been going out for the last one-and-a-half years. She is the only person I am with now.

And You Are A Son of Satan? Yes and No. In the movie, yes I was. I had a contract with Lucifer and I succeeded in getting a few of my close friends to join my occultic practice. This is something that happens a lot in our tertiary institutions. We can only pretend occultism does not exist but we know in our hearts it is a problem in our schools. And that was what my role sought to portray.

Yeah it was a challenging role. I mean there were times I had to strip naked before the cameras and all that but I took the role and as far as I am concerned, I did my best. The movie is yet to come out and it is only when people watch and give me the feedback that I can really know how I performed.

A Bit About Yourself Well, I am from Peki in the Volta region but I schooled in Accra. I had my basic education at Elizabeth Preparatory, Sakumono Community 14. From there, I went to Teshi PRESEC before continuing at the Trans Global Media College.

I’ve been doing this acting thing for some eight years now. It all started when I saw an advert on TV that ambitious actors should go for auditioning so I went for it and one thing led to another. It has been a hard road to travel and a rough way for me but I can’t turn back. My heart is fixed, my mind is made up. I’ll never stop because I believe my faith will see me through.

Working With Socrates. It has been good and bad. I’ve learnt a lot from him but I have also suffered from society because of the negative things people say about him.

I believe many of the guys who criticize him do not really know him well. They only hear his voice on radio and conclude he is a bad guy because they have read other things about him.

I remember when we were shooting the ‘Sakawa Boys’ and Socrates asked me to sleep in a coffin and I refused. He got angry and slapped me but I did not let that discourage me because I have a passion for this job. It is my burning desire to become a good actor with fame, money and awards so I cannot and would not get discouraged.

Fear Of Big Boys Oh the guys you call big boys today were not the big boys of yesterday. They all started somewhere just as I am doing now and I believe I would get there and go even further. It is all about time and destiny. If I have the opportunity they have, I would also make it even go further. There is a time for everything so I would get there one day and also be called a big boy.
