Freddie Meiway Ivorian music superstar, Freddy Meiway has confirmed our earlier story about his plans to record with his Ghanaian musician friend Kojo Antwi for their upcoming albums.
In an exclusive interview at the backstage of the maiden edition of Kojo Antwi?s African Music Festival which took place at the National Theater, Accra on December 24th, the France-based star told me that everything is close to sealed on the deal.
Kojo is the best friend I have in Ghana and doing a duet with him is a very important thing to happen to my career?, he says. ?Although we are yet to actually sign this deal, I?m very sure we will do something together in 2004?.
He would not mention title of this duet, but smart-talking Meiway wouldn?t mind telling me the title of his upcoming album. ?It is called Zoblazo 800%?.
Obviously, Meiway who already has 7 albums to his credit started from ?Zoblazo 100%? through to his last album ?Zoblazo 700%?. ?Kojo?s voice will definitely appear on ?Zoblazo 800%??, he was emphatic.
Kojo Antwi ?Earlier on Kojo Antwi told Ghana Music.Com that should the deal go through successfully, he would record two duets with Meiway where one of the tracks will appear on each of the two artists? 2004 albums. Our sources at Family Spirit, Kojo Antwi?s label revealed that Kojo has almost finished his next album but he will go back to the studio to do the final tracks including those with Meiway.
Meanwhile, we have the 411 that Kojo is planning another show at the National Theater on February 13th, 2003. (Actually wanted Saturday February 14th but missed the date out to comedian extraordinare, KSM). And knowing that Kojo would either like to do very new tracks after any show he does on a previous Dec 24th, one is expecting that Kojo releases his upcoming album either before or on February 13th, 2003. Our checks at the National Theater confirmed the booking.
Full interview with Freddy Meiway revealing his opinion on African hip-hop, especially Ghana?s own brand called hip-life; who he thinks is Afirca?s best musician and his general view of the African Music industry will be posted here very soon. Stay connected.
