Founder of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Pastor Dr Mensa Otabil must be arrested and charged with fraud for asking his followers to donate offerings as high as $5,000.
This is according to the leader of the Heaven’s Gate Ministry International, Nicholas Osei was popularly known as ‘Kumchacha‘.
According to him, Pastor Otabil together with colleague Nigerian Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo did not act based on the directives of the Bible by demanding from their followers such hefty amounts as offering.
In view, such a request, in the name of ‘special offering’, constitutes fraud and has called for both men of God to be arrested by the Bureau for National Investigations (BNI). Speaking in an interview with Kasapa FM, Kumchacha said:
“If you look at what Pastors Dr Mensa Otabil and Matthew Ashimolowo did was a total business. What they did was fraud so they should be arrested by the BNI.”
He added that offerings should be given at will, and not the other way round where members are given specific amounts to donate.
According to him, it is wrong for any pastor to dictate to his or her members on how much they should pay as offering. “We men of God aren’t God to tell you that when you give offering you will get the result that same day, We’re not God… So what if it doesn’t happen then you’ve become a liar.
“Let’s not boast of tomorrow because we don’t know what happens tomorrow (Proverbs 27). When someone is giving offering, it should be done by the will of the giver. You as a pastor can’t give 24-hour miracle… You’re not God.”
Kumchacha’s comments come after this year’s Greater Works conference host by Pastor Dr Otabil’s ICGC at the Black Stars Square in Accra, where offerings were categorized from $70 to $5,000.
