A mental patient, who roams the streets of Bolgatanga, on Monday arrested a suspected goat thief, tied the other end of the rope that had been used to tether the goat around the waist of the thief and dragged him over a distance of two kilometres to the Bolgatanga Municipal Police Station.

An eyewitness told the Ghana News Agency that the alarm was raised when the suspected goat thief, Adombila Adongo untied a pregnant goat belonging to Mr. Dominic Asabia, Upper East Regional Sports Organiser.

Adongo was taking the goat, which had been tethered on a field at the NACC Bungalows, to the market to and sell, since it was a market day in Bolgatanga.

The mental patient, who gave his name as Apana Frafra, joined in the chase and eventually caught up with Adongo, arrested him and took him to the station, where he handed him over. A large crowd followed as Frafra dragged the thief to the Station.

The Police told the GNA that Adongo would be arraigned after investigations.
