Straight from their huge and very significant success at telecasting live,the final Black Stars World Cup qualifying match from Cape Verde to Ghanaians,the folk at Metro TV are set to celebrate another first.
On Saturday, Metro TV will launch their telecast of the world acclaimed MTV Base programmes at a VIP invites-only event in Accra.
The launch which is in collaboration with MTV Networks Africa will also celebrate the signing of the recent landmark deal between Metro TV and MTV Networks Africa.
Hosting the launch will be Talal Fatal, CEO of Metro TV and Alex Okosi,Vice President and General Manager of MTV Networks Africa.
Special guest will be Pras Michel,from the US Grammy-winning group,The Fugees.The guest list for the occasion comprise Ghanaian highlife and hiplife musicians, music video producers,record manufacturers,music producers, MUSIGA executive,copyright administrators,event organisers,radio and television personalities, media and corporate executive.
MTV Base's quality blend of top-rated programming and cutting edge music content will complement Metro TV?s strong family entertainment offering.
The MTV Base programming block on Metro TV will feature the latest international and local music videos. It will also showcase a selection of MTV?s acclaimed international programmes such as Cribs (artists take viewers on a personal,guided tour of their homes)and Pimp My Ride (US rapper Xzibit customises viewers? cars in true ?bling? style).
The block will be rounded out by MTV base programmes that highlight the best of Africa including MTV base LIVE! (the pan-African party tour sponsored by Nokia) and MTV base Spotlight (an in-depth look at the hottest African artists).
Metro TV will sell advertising spots around the blocks providing local advertisers with direct access to the Ghanaian market,particularly lifestyle brands in the fashion,sport,soft drink,alcoholic beverages,and mobile phone categories.
MTV Base was launched in Februarythis year to 1.3 million households across Africa.Recognized for its quality programming environment and stringent editorial policy, MTV Base has distinctive pan-African music sensibility.
The 24 hour channel features artists and music that Africans want to watch,including international R&B, hip-hop,soul and African music genres such as Ghana?s highlife & hiplife, South Africa's kwaito, Uganda?s dancehall, Senegal?s zouk and Ivory Coast's coupe, decale.
