The management of Metro TV, one of the leading private television stations in Ghana, is set to roll out new programs for its viewers as parts of efforts to reposition themselves in the market.
The once a dominant force on the media landscape, has in the last few years, had turbulent times, but seems to have found its rhythm with KBL’s acquisition of Media TV, which partly owns Metro TV about two years ago.
The new wave of change ongoing at the new private television station is currently being supervised by Mr. William Asare, the General Manager of the station, an astute television and event management brain, who was appointed in December 2017.
The changes were aimed at giving exceptional customer service approach, with three new refreshing programs targeted at varied audience and they would be presented by carefully selected presenters, who were hand-picked to host the shows specifically to reach out a certain class and category of Ghanaians.
Mr. Asare, who holds a Master of Arts in Theatre Arts from the University of Ghana and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Film and Television production from the National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI).
According to Mr. Asare, the station would also roll out GMG+, a mid-morning lifestyle magazine and social interest program that allows the cameras and presenters to express themselves in a more fluid and flexible manner, avoiding the typical studio format, ensuring optimum attention.
The show would be steered by King and Jaqueline Acquaye, former playlist, through a myriad of fun, informative, educative and interactive segments 9:30am and 10:30am.
It would discuss issues of concern in the areas of fashion and beauty, health and wellness, technology and gadgets, travel and adventure, talking points, gardening, tips and tricks, motoring and motorsports, funnies and trending issues.
Mr. Asare, who was once Head of production at Metro Tv, before he left ten years ago, is expected to bring to bare his rich technical and assertive management skills to lead the team to revive the station.
The changes at the station, has also resulted in the revision of the weekend belt programs with the presence of the ever entertaining, Babie Dappah, who would bring to viewers information from the world of entertainment and gossip on Saturdays at 6pm, whilst quickE brings to viewers breaking up, making up, fleeing or just darting to the chop bars.
Also in line, is the Music Video Chat (MVC), at 5pm on Saturdays, with ever young and funky Dorothy Cornelius, who would bring the Music Video Chat alongside spanking new and trending videos.
One of the longest running political talk shows and current affairs; Good Morning Ghana and Good Evening Ghana hosted by Randy Abbey and Paul Adom-Okyere respectively have been repackaged with new sets, segments and vibrant creatives to spice it up.
According to Mr. Asare, the station was ready to regain its glory and position in the media landscape.
