Minister calls for a China-Ghana Tourism Programme roll out

The Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Catherine Afeku has called for the promotion of a special tourism package dubbed China-Ghana Tourism aimed at getting middle-Level Chinese tourists to visit Ghana throughout the year.

The programme would entail the putting together of special tourism packages for Chinese tourists to visit heritage and cultural sites in Ghana with the object of making Ghana the preferred choice for Chinese Tourists in Africa.

Mrs. Afeku made the call during a courtesy call on her by the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, H.E Sun Baohong to congratulate the former on her appointment as Minister and also to discuss ways of expanding further the cooperation between the two countries.

She also appealed to the People’s Republic of China to assist in renovating the National Theatre as part of their contribution towards Ghana’s 60th Independence Anniversary.

Ambassador Sun, lauded Ghana’s rich culture and creative arts potential which according to her is manifest in our festivals, dance and music.

She enumerated some of the support her country has extended to the sector and assured the Minister of her government’s continuous support in the area of logistics, cultural exchange programmes, student exchange programmes and in other related fields.

The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr. Jiang Zhouteng, Counsellor and Tang Ruiqun of their Political Section.
